Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Background Body weight is associated with frailty and an independent strong predictor adverse outcomes among patients cardiovascular diseases. Purpose To evaluate how body mass index (BMI) modify the association significant tricuspid regurgitation (TR) poor survival. Methods Consecutive echocardiographic reports linked to clinical data from a tertiary medical center (2007–2021) were reviewed. Patients BMI between 14 45 Kg/m2 included, first echocardiography as case. Significant TR was defined moderate-to-severe or severe. categories included underweight, normal weight, overweight obesity cutoffs 18.5, 25 30, respectively. Frailty stratified into 3 groups. The primary outcome all-cause mortality available for all patients. Multivariable Cox regression interaction analysis models applied. Results Final study population 109,927 median age 65 (IQR 52–76) years whom 63,368 (58%) males. 3,352 (3.1%) had TR. There 2,384 (2%), 39,638 (36%), 43,086 (39%), 24,700 (24%) individuals overweight, obesity, respectively, 3% in each group. During follow-up 4.7 (1.8–8.5) 28,917 (26%) died. Interaction multivariable model demonstrated that survival significantly modified by such differed across groups (not underweight groups, HR 1.27 1.32 1.34 p<.0001 three groups: Figure 1A). not significant, similarly mortality. Sub-analysis 67,188 (61%) who hospitalized, adjustment baseline comorbidities (heart failure, ischemic heart disease, diabetes etc.) yielded similar point estimates main (Figure 1B). Conclusions frailty, whereas it weight. Among patients,

The Impact of Body Mass Index on Pregnancy Outcome

Background & aim: Pre-pregnancy obesity is considered as a significant predictor for neonatal and maternal morbidity and mortality. Several studies have indicated conflicting associations between body mass index (BMI) and pregnancy outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of pre-pregnancy BMI on adverse pregnancy outcomes. Methods:Thiscohort study was conducted from 2010 to 2013 in Qa...

Determinants of Surgical Outcome in Patients With Isolated Tricuspid Regurgitation

Background—We sought to identify preoperative predictors of clinical outcomes after surgery in patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation. Methods and Results—We prospectively enrolled 61 consecutive patients (54 women, aged 57 9 years) with isolated severe tricuspid regurgitation undergoing corrective surgery. Twenty-one patients (34%) were in New York Heart Association functional class II, ...

Significant tricuspid regurgitation is a marker for adverse outcome in patients undergoing percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty.

OBJECTIVES This study examined the association between the presence of tricuspid regurgitation and immediate and late adverse outcomes in patients undergoing balloon mitral valvuloplasty. BACKGROUND Significant tricuspid regurgitation has an adverse impact on morbidity and mortality in patients undergoing mitral valve surgery for mitral stenosis. METHODS We studied 318 consecutive patients ...

Frailty, body mass index, and abdominal obesity in older people.

BACKGROUND Frailty has been conceptualized as a wasting disorder with weight loss as a key component. However, obesity is associated with disability and with physiological markers also recently linked with frailty, for example, increased inflammation and low antioxidant capacity. We aimed to explore the relationship between frailty and body mass index (BMI) in older people. METHODS Data were ...

Maternal Body Mass Index and Pregnancy Outcome

Background: Proportion of obese pregnant women is on the rise. Obesity is known to act as a risk factor for various adverse maternal and fetal outcomes; notably hypertension, diabetes, increased risk of operational delivery and macrosomic babies. This study focuses on selected outcomes among various BMI groups of pregnant mothers. Objectives: (1) To find the distribution of pregnant females by ...
